Legal procedures for marriage
The couple that want to get married through Mexico´s Civil Weddning, must comply with a series of legal procedures and present a written letter to the Judge at the Civil Registry belonging to the locality, municipality or state where they want to carry out the ceremony. They must present the following information:
-Name, age, occupation and address, both couples as well as their parents. When one of the couple or both had been previously married or are a window or widower, they must present the reasons for their divorce.
-Proof that there is no legal impediment to get married and their willingness to get married.
This written document must be signed by both and if one is unable, another adult and living in the locality selected by the couple may do so.
In case of a falsification of any document, give false testimony or deny any impediment or legal cause, there are
Legal Dispositions of the Mexican Civil Registry and can be penalized for such act and could annul and not take place.
