Economic Protection for the Couple

For civil weddings, the couple must take into account economic protection. The agreement between the couple must be clearly expressed, if marriage is contracted under the conjugal society system or under seperate properties.

- The Conjugal Society or Common Properties, is an agreement where the couple establishes that both are owners of their properties. After signing the marriage contract, their properties are shared and as partners they must divide current and future posessions equaly. This regime also includes sharing obligations and debts.

- Seperation of Properties or Hereditary System, allows each one of the conjugal to conserve the property and administration of the property belonging to them. One of the advantages is that in case of a divorse, this system facilitates the seperation of the parts.

- Mixed Contract, there is also the possibility of signing a mixed contract between both conjugals, where they will accept sharing some property and seperate others.
