Chetumal and Bacalar

Program of 3 Days and 2 Nights, which will allow know most important attractions in Chetumal and Bacalar. Daily departures, minimum 2 persons.

At the end of the Mexican Caribbean Coast, you find Chetumal, a city that offers the contrast of the sea and the jungle. It is the entrance to Central America on its borders with Guatemala and Belize.

We recommend you to take a walk in Chetumal, walking along the Boulevard Bahía will allow you to know all the sculptures, monuments and places of interest that you will find along this avenue. Including restaurants and bars where you can eat or cool off on a hot day.

If you went walking all the Boulevard Bay towards the north, you will run into Calderitas, approximately 9 km away from the capital of Chetumal. In Calderitas, the best thing you can do is rent a boat and take a ride to Tamalcab Island, located 2 kilometers away. It is an uninhabited island, it is about 9km long and is home to spider monkeys, eagles, herons, coatis, among other species of animals.

ITINERARY

Day 1, ARRIVAL AT CHETUMAL

  • Welcome at airport and transfer to hotel.
  • Free evening.
  • Accommodation at Hotel Los Cocos 4* in EP or similar with all taxes included.

Day 2, CHETUMAL - BACALAR - CHETUMAL

  • Departure from Chetumal at 10:30 in the morning to take a tour in Bacalar, magical town and 7 colors lagoon.
  • There we will visit the Fort of San Felipe, located in the center of the town and built in the seventeenth century, an example of the Novo-Hispanic military architecture that served as protection against pirate attacks. This construction has a privileged panoramic view of the incomparable Bacalar lagoon. We include entrance to the Fort Museum with guide. We will visit the church later.
  • Now we will board a pontoon to take a ride through the lagoon, we will enjoy a tour of the beautiful Bacalar lagoon for two hours, we will pass through the canals and through two cenotes in the middle of the lagoon, we will arrive near the area of the rapids, near where stromatolites or microbiologists are located.
    Currently, stromatolites are only formed in some rare, more conserved places on the planet, such as on the west coast of Australia, in the Red Sea or in the Torres de Paine National Park, in the Magallanes region in Chile, and of course in the beautiful Laguna de Bacalar.
  • After taking the boat tour we will know the viewpoint of the Cenote Azul, imposing by the intense blue and the depth of its waters.
  • At the end, we include the food, snacks from the region such as shrimp and fish tacos, Dutch cheese empanadas, a drink, which can be beer, soda or water.
  • Return to Chetumal, free afternoon.
  • Accommodation at Hotel Los Cocos 4* in EP or similar with all taxes included.

Day 3, CHETUMAL CITY TOUR - DEPARTURE

  • 9:30AM, Check out of the hotel.
  • Tour of the city of Chetumal, to know its magical history, visiting the Chewing Gum Museum, the Lighthouse Museum, the Model of the Old City, the State Congress Mural, fountains, parks and monuments. At the end of the tour we visit a store of local products, they already have a 10% discount on this ticket for this store. Face-to-face guide, duration of two hours and thirty minutes.
  • Transfer to the airport to take flight back home.
