 Laguna de Termino is located 181 kilometers to the Southwest of the city Campeche .It was declared Area for the Protection of Wild Flora and Fauna since 1994 and it is part of the most important delta in Mexico with an 705,000 hectares .In addition, it is the system of estuary in lagoons of greater volume and surface in the country. Laguna de Termino constitutes an ecological coastal complex, perfect for the observation of flora since it offers a mosaic of vegetables, aquatic and coastal species.
The mangrove swamps are the most representative vegetation of the place, although there are associations of popal,carrizal and sibals and other different types of jungle. 84 families have been reported with a total of 374 species, some of them under special protection since they are threatened or in danger of extinction. The terrestrial and aquatic fauna is represented at least by 1,468 species, thirty of them are endemic .Some of them are: amphibious, reptiles, birds and mammals.
