The Route Olmeca-Zoque has rivers, streams, a jungle, flora and tropical fauna. There are three archeological areas which belong to three great Mexican cultures: La Venta ,Malpasito and Comalcalco. The journey starts in La Villa Sanchez Magallanes in the municipality of Cardenas, a beautiful fishers’ town located 137 kilometers away from Villahermosa. The route has beautiful beaches, lagoons and islets such as: El Pajaral. There are also lagoons like La del Carmen and La Machona that are perfect for the observation of flora and fauna, sailing and fishing.
The journey continues towards Huimanguillo where you can find the archeological site La Venta, vestige of one of the most important cities of the Olmeca culture.The ecological park Olmeca is located in the kilometer 62.5 of the highway Francisco Rueda- Huimanguillo.It has 62 hectares with an abundant biodiversity and the lagoon del Rosario. There is also the archeological site Malpasito from the Zoque culture in Sierra Huimanguillo. Agua Selva is a natural reserve which presents a nice landscape of mountains .Some of tem are: El Cerro Mono Pelado and El Cerro de La Pava.
