 Sierra de Tabasco is a region with many natural attractions and diverse flora and fauna. There are magical towns such as: Teapa, Tacotalpa and Mascupana where you will find a great quantity of hills, tropical jungles, waterfalls, rivers, springs of sulphur waters, natural reserves and caves. All sorts of ecotouristic activities and adventures can be developed here. This region has ecological parks and colorful towns such as: Tapijulapa and Oxolotan.
Yu-Balcah, one of the most diverse ecosystems in Mexico is located only two kilometers away. It has 8 kilometers of interpretative tracks with a wide biodiversity of flora and fauna. There are 115 species and 47 botanic families, highlighting three species in danger of extinction and some medicinal species, tree useful for its wood, nutritional species and for construction too. There are also some species of plants that are used for craft, shadow, restoring and ornamental. In order to be able to do flora observation, three different routes are recommended:
1. It begins in the track “Canacoite” (1,800 meters long). It goes through the most representative area of the jungle. You will be able to watch tree species over 20 meters high.
2. It begins in the track Heliconias (2,000 meters long) where you will be able to observe the plantation of the oil palm tree, fruit trees so as an ancient channel of the river Chichilte,the habitat of a diverse fauna and a collection of orchids.
3. It begins in the track called Sendero Pio. The journey lasts seven hours approximately.
