 The Zempoala Lagoons, constitutes one of the most beautiful areas close to Mexico City. This place declared National Park during the 1940´s, is found in the Chichinautzin biological corridor in the municipalities of Ocuilan de Arteaga, State of Mexico and Huitzilac, State of Morelos. It takes one hour and a half from the center of the city.
This national park is made up by several lagoons that is fed by the rivers that run on the hills of Ajusco and other neighborhood forest in addition to the rain water that generate other ocassional lagoons during the summer. This site is surrounded by exhuberant tepid and cold forests, highlighting vegetable species like rivet, cedar, pines and others. Its fauna is made up by deer, a variety of birds, small mammals and reptiles. The area has perfect places for weekend recreational activities like camping areas in addition to picnics and some water and land sports. It is a perfect site to enjoy nature.
