 Huatulco, seems to be the favorite destination for ecotourism lovers, especially for bird watchers. It has residential and migratory birds that get together after a long trip. One of the favortie areas for this activity is the Botazoo National Park, due to the ecosystems diversity it presents and for its abundant flora and fauna. Located in the bocana where the Copalita River meets with the sea. 80 percent of the park´s vegetation is jungle with some tree species that grow 8 to 10 meters. The tour is carried out with the support of a bilingual guide.
Approximately 220 tropical bird species have been observed in the area, among them are the woodpecker, guaco hawks, humingbirds among other species that you can observe in their natural habitat.
There are some birds in danger of extinction; representing some 30 percent found nationally. Surrounded by exhuberant flora, the clean waters of Copalita River provides protection and food for thousands of birds, among them pelicans and herons, making this area a paradise for bird watchers. Its impressive landscapes and peaceful surrounding turns it into the best of the routes, ideal for horseback riding and short walks and if you prefer take advantage of the river´s water for a refreshing swim. Botazoo Park also protects the arqueological zone of Punta Celeste with its magic and secrets of zapoteca culture.
