Mexico is one of the first twelve countries with more flora and fauna in the world. Two of the six big biogeographic regions in the planet meet in its 1,981,547 kilometer territory: the Neoartic and the Neotropical, this brings about a great richness in biodiversity, habitat and a high number of endemic species. Mexico has 60 protected areas: natural reserves, national parks, desert zones and tropical jungles. There are 20,000 kinds of plants and about 2,400 species of terrestrial vertebrate animals in these areas. The first place goes to the reptiles with 717 species, second the mammals with 449 species, third one to turtles; fourth the amphibious with 282 species and the tenth place to birds with 1,010 species.

Over 30,000 types of plants have been registered. Some of them are: the silver fir, the juniper, the moctezuma, some kinds of pines, the oaks, coconut trees, the Mexican holm oak, the apache palm tree, the kapok tree, etc. There are also over 60,000 kinds of orchids .Mexico counts with half of the kinds of cactus that are in the world. Those who visit and discover this “Eden” get astonished with it, due to the great biodiversity of ecosystems and its contrasts.
