National Park Cumbres del Ajusco, Mexico City

The name of Ajusco comes from the native language Nahuatl, which means “water forest”.Ajusco is an isolated hill, located in the outside of the town it was named after. It is 1,700 meter high above the Mexican basin level and almost 4000 meter high above the sea level. The line of Ajusco’s base is almost rounded and it has a surface of a 9 kilometer diameter. The park Cumbres de Ajusco is located in an area of woods with oyamel trees, pines and holm oaks. In addition, the park counts with an endemic flora and fauna. At the top of Ajusco, rocks are perfect for sports climbers and boulder (the practice of climbing on walls or on not so high tops) for intermediate level and experts.
