  Cerro de Tequila in Guadalajara, State of Jalisco  
     
  There is a 300 million- year old volcanic cone 62 kilometers away from Guadalajara. It is known as Cerro or Volcan de Tequila, whose last eruption occurred 600 years ago approximately. This volcano is located in the town which it was named after (famous for being the cradle of the well –known Mexican beverage Tequila).It is said that in order to climb such mountainous area, you can go through a paved road built by the emperor Maximiliano in the nineteenth century. It is also said that three tunnels were built to go through the mountain and that trains used to go through these tunnels. There is a wide area of woods with an amazing biodiversity in the hillsides of the volcano. You can practice ski-diving in the crater of the volcano, having at the same time an incredible view of the valleys of Tequila and Atemajac.
