  Puerto Vallarta is a privileged destination because of its valuable natural reserves. Some of these amazing beauties are the mountains of Sierra Madre. These mountains are a source of hidden treasures with an intense wild life, waterfalls, and typical towns of the region and roads which drive you to the heart of the jungle. Lots of places are only reachable riding on horseback or walking.
The Northern region of Sierra Madre is an important ecological habitat .The flora is diverse and abundant. It includes 300 different kinds of orchids. It is a paradise for over the 400 kinds of birds and migrating and sea birds. This region presents a diversity of mammals, including reptiles and an incredible number of butterflies. Some of the mammals that inhabit this region are: the white tail deer, the jaguar, the puma, the wild boar, the ocelot, the wild cat, the coati, the fox, the beaver, coyotes, the Mexican lizard, rabbits, armadillos, iguana among other species.
